The International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) has published a case study report called Better Communication in Financial Reporting — Making disclosures more meaningful that illustrates how companies from different parts of the world have improved communication in their IFRS financial statements.
The case study report contains 6 case studies from varied industries and explain how these companies have gone through the process to improve disclosures in the notes to their IFRS financial statements and shows examples of the improvements made.
The appropriate and adequate disclosures in a financial statements make it easier for investors to read and understand.
The examples in the report shows how a relatively small changes may significantly improve the quality of the financial information that companies provide.
The case study report complements other IFRS initiatives, including the Principles of Disclosure project and the recently published IFRS Practice Statement 2 Making Materiality Judgements.
