{"id":1636,"date":"2020-09-30T14:36:59","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T06:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/?p=1636"},"modified":"2021-02-18T14:45:34","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T06:45:34","slug":"first-installment-of-six-part-anti-money-laundering-educational-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/2020\/09\/30\/first-installment-of-six-part-anti-money-laundering-educational-series\/","title":{"rendered":"First Installment of Six-Part Anti-Money Laundering Educational Series"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On or about 23 September 2020, the International Federation of  Accountants (IFAC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England  and Wales released the first segment of the <em>Anti-Money Laundering, The Basics<\/em> educational series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instalment 1: Introduction to Anti-Money Laundering for Professional Accountants is part of a 6-month short series helping professional  accountants improve their understanding of how money laundering works,  the risks they face, and what they can do to mitigate these risks and  make a positive contribution to the public interest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series, with its focus on accessibility and ease of use, will be a resource for Small  and Medium Practices (SMPs,) and accountants less familiar with AML, while also providing guidance for those looking for a quick refresher or  reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFighting money laundering\u2014a key priority of IFAC\u2014allows millions of \nprofessional accountants worldwide to make a real difference for the \npublic good every day.\u201d said Scott Hanson, Principal, Public Policy \n&amp; Regulation at IFAC.&nbsp; \u201cEvents like the recent FinCEN leaks serve as\n another timely reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant on this\n important issue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophie Wales, Director, Technical Strategy, \nTax, Ethics and Law Group, at ICAEW, said: \u201cWe are pleased to launch \nthis new educational series with IFAC, which we hope will help chartered\n accountants improve their understanding of money laundering. \nAccountants are the gatekeepers to the financial system and play a \ncrucial role in identifying the red flags when it comes to economic \ncrime, so it\u2019s vital we do what we can to ensure criminals can\u2019t find \nsomeone else to clean their dirty money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Anti-Money Laundering: The Basics <\/em><\/strong>will\n be featured on both the IFAC and ICAEW websites and available for \ndownload for free.
