{"id":374,"date":"2018-02-19T15:25:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-19T07:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/?p=374"},"modified":"2018-03-01T13:16:33","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T05:16:33","slug":"singapore-gst-to-be-raised-to-9-between-2021-and-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/2018\/02\/19\/singapore-gst-to-be-raised-to-9-between-2021-and-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore GST to be raised to 9% between 2021 and 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"hP\">The Finance Minister has announced in his 2018 Budget on 19 February 2018 that the government plans to increase the GST rate by 2%, from 7% to 9%, sometime in the periods of 2021 to 2025.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pw-hidden-cp\">The exact timing for the increase will depend on the state of the economy, growth in expenditure and the buoyancy of existing taxes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"pw-hidden-cp\">The Finance Minister added that\u00a0the GST hike will be implemented in a progressive manner, with the following measures, the Government:<\/div>\n<ul class=\"none\">\n<li class=\"hP none\">will continue to absorb GST on publicly subsidised education and healthcare,<\/li>\n<li class=\"hP none\">enhance the permanent GST Voucher (GSTV) scheme when the GST is increased, and<\/li>\n<li class=\"hP none\">also implement an offset package for a period of time to help Singaporeans adjust to the GST increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"pw-hidden-cp\">\n<p>The GST was last raised in 2007, when it went up from 5 to 7 per cent.
