{"id":647,"date":"2018-04-25T07:29:16","date_gmt":"2018-04-24T23:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/?p=647"},"modified":"2018-07-28T08:24:16","modified_gmt":"2018-07-28T00:24:16","slug":"proposed-changes-to-the-definition-of-computer-by-the-cybersecurity-act-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/2018\/04\/25\/proposed-changes-to-the-definition-of-computer-by-the-cybersecurity-act-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed changes to the definition of &#8220;computer&#8221; by the Cybersecurity Act 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) commenced work on the Act in late 2015.The Cybersecurity Bill was first introduced in Parliament and published in the Government <i>Gazette<\/i> (electronic edition) on 8 January 2018 and was passed by Parliament on 5 February 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On 12 March 2018, the <em>C<\/em><i>ybersecurity Act 2018<\/i> was published in the Government <i>Gazette<\/i> (electronic edition) and will come into operation on a date that the Minister appoints by notification in the <i>Gazette<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Act will apply to organisations that are designated as operating &#8216;critical information infrastructure&#8217; (CII) in Singapore. Organisations in the energy, telecoms, water, health, banking, transport and media sectors are among those that could be impacted.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Act establishes a legal framework for the oversight and maintenance of national cybersecurity in Singapore. Its four key objectives are to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">1.\u00a0\u00a0 Strengthen the protection of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) against cyber-attacks.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">2.\u00a0\u00a0 Authorise CSA to prevent and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">3.\u00a0\u00a0 Establish a framework for sharing cybersecurity information.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">4.\u00a0\u00a0 Establish a light-touch licensing framework for cybersecurity service providers. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"hP\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Act proposes amendments to the definitions of \u201ccomputer\u201d and \u201ccomputer output\u201d in s 2(1) of the <i>Goods and Services Tax Act<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Source, <em>CSA<\/em>, 25 April 2018<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) commenced work on the Act in late 2015.The Cybersecurity Bill was first introduced in Parliament and published in the Government Gazette (electronic edition) on 8 January 2018 and was passed by Parliament on 5 February 2018.
