{"id":829,"date":"2018-11-02T13:11:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T05:11:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/?p=829"},"modified":"2018-11-02T13:12:06","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T05:12:06","slug":"u-k-targets-tech-giants-with-a-digital-services-tax-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ehluar.com\/main\/2018\/11\/02\/u-k-targets-tech-giants-with-a-digital-services-tax-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"U.K. Targets Tech Giants with a Digital Services Tax in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From April 2020, the Britain will introduce a new 2% digital services tax aimed at tech giants, as announced by the British finance minster, Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond, during his Autumn 2018 budget presentation in London on 29 October 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The new digital service tax will apply to revenues generated from global tech companies (such as Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google) where activities are linked to the participation of UK users, subject to a \u00a325 million per annum allowance.\u00a0 Aiming to raise \u00a3400 million (US$512 million) a year for the U.K. Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The tax will apply only to profitable businesses that generate global revenues from in-scope business activities at least \u00a3500 million (US$640 million) a year and not consumer or internet startups.
